A first kite lesson in Dubai is not a board photo at minute forty. If anyone promised you that, they were selling a clip, not a skill.
Before you arrive
We have already killed the slot if the wind is wrong. You get a meeting pin for Jebel Ali or Ness Nass, not a treasure hunt. Swimwear on under clothes saves ten awkward minutes.
On the sand
Names, injuries, can you swim. Then the window: where power lives, where the kite is parked, what happens if you let go of the wrong thing. Safety system on the bar — you will pull it on purpose so it is not a theory.
Then you fly
Trainer or full kite, depends on the day and how you move. Figure-eights. Parking it. Putting it down without writing off the leading edge. Most of the two hours is this. It looks slow from a towel. It is the whole sport compressed into your hands.
Water, maybe
If the wind holds and you are not fried we wet the harness and do a first drag. If not, we stop. That is still a complete first lesson.
What you will not do
Strap into a board and “just try”. That is how people shoulder a kite into the next student.
After
You should be able to say whether you want the 10-hour block. Taster money is the cheapest way to find out you hate sand in your teeth before you buy a course.
